| Peer Support The peer support programme enables service users to give and receive support in an environment that fosters openness largely due to understanding that comes from mutual experience. Everyone who attends peer support sessions will have personally experienced substance misuse at some point in their lives and want to address their substance misuse in a positive way. The peer support programme has no particular ethos and is goal based. Individuals are supported in achieving their goals on a one to one basis and in group sessions. Peer support is particularly effective as it provides individuals with an insight into how others have achieved success and overcome barriers. The knowledge that other people in similar situations have achieved their goals is both inspiring and encouraging and can play a key role in the overall success of an individual’s treatment journey. All support sessions take place in a structured environment and everything discussed during the sessions remains confidential. For more information about peer support, or to find out where and when future sessions will be held, please contact us. Travel expenses will paid for attendance at peer support sessions in accordance with DATUS policies & procedures. |
